Our diverse 20 acre farm is perfect for a weekend camping getaway or road trip rest spot for anyone with off-grid and self reliant interests. There are a variety of spaces in the camping area for small and large groups.
On the edge of a quiet country town, Murrnong is a sanctuary to enjoy a beautiful yet productive landscape beneath a starlit sky.
Farm produce, including olive oil, seasonal fruit and preserves, are available to purchase.
There are dry composting toilets, which are the same as we use for the house. We get good feedback about these, for being well maintained and very acceptable to use. There are no showers or powered sites.
Camping spaces
At the far corner of the farm stone pine, carob trees and native bunya pines create a shady, secluded campground. A short walk up the dam bank will put you in prime position to watch magnificent sunsets. Beside the pines/carobs is a grove of oak trees, providing a cool, calming space in summer. There are also camping spaces within a belt of casuarinas and eucalypts, which form a border to the adjacent olive grove.
About the locality
The farm is within walking distance of the V/Line train station and Violet Town shops, library, post office, public swimming pool, walking track, and health clinic. On the second Saturday of each month Violet Town comes alive with the bustle of the monthly market.
Within 30 km are beautiful Strathbogie ranges with granite country hiking, wildlife and natural swimming holes such as Gooram Falls and Polly McQuinns. Nearby Benalla has an art gallery, rose garden, North East Artisan crafts, Winton Wetlands, and the Wall to Wall festival street art. In the opposite direction is Euroa, with cafes and evening venues with occasional live music.

Camping details
We ask that campers respect the property as a functional farm, and keep a positive impact on the land. Food scraps can be added to our compost. Please take land fill and recycling with you when leaving. Free fire wood can be collected around the farm. Please provide your own rainwater if coming by car, van or RV. We are happy to fill rainwater for cyclists or in other situations with limited weight carrying capacity. Dogs are welcome, and must be kept on leash at all times and out of sight of farm animals. Visitors can help us with animal care, but please don’t feed them without us. We observe total fire ban rules and camp fires should be managed with usual fire safety – don’t leave unattended

“We enjoyed every minute of our time in the farm, the camp site, the firewood and campfires, the interaction we had with the chickens, taking the goats out for grazing, witnessing David milking the goat early in the morning, picking organic oranges and mandarins and finally the insightful and interesting conversations we had with David made the whole camping experience wonderful. Thank you David for your wonderful hospitality.” Thomas
